This quote by Simone Weil speaks to the importance of equality in society. Equality is not simply an idea, however something that needs to be actively expressed in the method we treat each other. We need to recognize that all humans are deserving of the very same degree of attention and respect, despite their background or identity. This means that we need to strive to develop institutions and social standards that reflect this concept. We should make sure that everybody has access to the same chances and resources, and that no one is victimized or treated unfairly. Equality is not just a lofty suitable, however something that should be actively pursued and practiced in order to produce a more simply and fair society.
