This quote by Woody Guthrie is a humorous way of revealing his indifference to the political departments of the time. He is recommending that it doesn't matter to him whether somebody is on the left or best side of the political spectrum, as he is more worried with the useful matters of life. He is indicating that the political departments are irrelevant compared to the more crucial things in life, such as food and nourishment. He is also recommending that the departments between individuals need to not be so important, and that everybody needs to be able to come together and delight in the exact same things, no matter their political beliefs. This quote is a suggestion that we need to not let our distinctions divide us, however rather come together and take pleasure in the basic enjoyments of life.
