In this quote, Meister Eckhart is describing the concept of divine knowledge and how it relates to the person. The "knower" refers to the individual looking for understanding and the "recognized" refers to the things of that understanding, in this case, God. Eckhart is saying that there is a unity in between the individual seeking knowledge and the divine understanding they seek to attain. He goes on to discuss that some might think of God as a separate and remote entity, however truly it is through the pursuit of knowledge that one can turn into one with God.
