This joy is not a malicious one, but rather a joy that originates from knowing that justice has actually been served and that the impious have actually been punished for their misdeeds. It is a happiness that originates from knowing that the elect have been chosen by God which they have actually been spared from the same fate. This quote functions as a pointer that justice will be served and that those who have done incorrect will be penalized. It also works as a tip that the elect ought to be glad for their true blessings and should not take them for approved.
