"They're not posing as being Jesus Christ all the time"

This quote by Jim Goad is a commentary on the pretension of some religious individuals. He is suggesting that some individuals that claim to be religious as well as follow the trainings of Jesus Christ do not always live up to the standards they establish on their own. Rather, they may act in ways that contrast the mentors of Jesus Christ, such as being judgmental or sanctimonious. Goad is suggesting that these individuals are not measuring up to the criteria they establish on their own as well as are not truly living as Jesus Christ would have them live. He is suggesting that these individuals are not truly devoted to their faith and are rather simply pretending to be spiritual. Goad is suggesting that these people ought to not be taken seriously which their activities need to not be seen as agent of true Christianity.
