In this quote, Simone Weil compares the relationship in between two detainees communicating through a wall to the relationship in between human beings and God. The wall works as a physical barrier in between the prisoners, yet it also becomes their methods of communication. Likewise, Weil suggests that the viewed separation between humans and God is in fact a link that connects us to a higher power. This separation allows for an unique form of interaction and connection with God. Weil's words remind us that even in minutes of viewed range or separation, there is constantly a way to link and interact with the divine.
