Abdullah Gul is a Turkish politician who served as the 11th President of Turkey from 2007 to 2014. He was born on October 29, 1950, in Kayseri, Turkey. His father was a teacher, and his mother was a housewife. Gul received his primary and secondary education in his hometown and then moved to Istanbul to attend Istanbul Technical University, where he studied mechanical engineering.
After graduation, Gul worked as a lecturer at the same university and completed his PhD in 1983. In 1983, he entered politics and became a member of the Motherland Party (ANAP). He was elected to parliament in 1991 and held various positions in the government, including Minister of State and Deputy Prime Minister.
