SummaryFred Davis (born in Chesterfield, Derbyshire) was a famous Celebrity from England, who lived between August 13, 1913 and April 16, 1998.BiographyFred Davis was an English professional snooker player who won the World Cup three times. He was the younger brother of the more successful Joe Davis, the pioneer in the sport of snooker. (However, they are not related to snooker player Steve Davis)Fred Davis was originally the billiard player, and became a professional in the sport already 1929th Eight years later, in 1937, he played his first match as a professional snooker. His older brother Joe had dominated the sport of snooker in 1920 - and 1930's, and in the last World Cup final before the break for World War II, in 1940, beating Joe his brother Fred. After the World Cup 1946 drew Joe back, and the road was now open to other talents, including Fred Davis. He seized this opportunity, and won the World Cup three times, 1948, 1949 and 1951, and was also in the finals in 1947 and 1950, when he lost to the shoots Walter Donaldson. After 1951 there was a dispute between the top snooker players and Snooker Association, which resulted in a competitive tournament for the World Cup, World Match Play, was introduced. Davis won the first five editions of this tournament, but withdrew after a temporary return. When the World Cup was resurrected in 1964, now with the challenge format, Davis resumed his career, but failed in three attempts never defeat the reigning world champion John Pulman.
