Valentino Rossi is an Italian motorcycle racer running for Fiat Yamaha in MotoGP in 2010, and which shall run for the Ducati Team in 2011. He is seven-times world champion in MotoGP, and he has also taken a title in both the 125cc and 250cc class.
Valentino is the son of Graziano Rossi, who also participated in the 500cc class between 1978 and 1982. He began his career in the 125cc class in 1996 and took his first title the following year. He then ran in the 250cc class in 1998, where he also took the title on his second attempt. The same pattern he followed in the 500cc class, which in 2002 changed its name to MotoGP. Rossi dominated this class from 2001 to 2005, where he took five successive titles. In 2006, the championship decided in the last race of Valencia and it was American Nicky Hayden who took the title ahead of Rossi. In 2008 Rossi won the throne back, and he retained it in 2009.
Rossi started the 2010 season strong with a victory in the first race followed by two podiums. Problems emerged, however up when he got a high aspect of turning 13 Biondetti at Mugello during the 2 fritreningen before the Italian Grand Prix. The result was an open violation of the right leg, which meant that Rossi had to stand over four years. He will run his first race after the injury at Sachsenring in Germany on 18 July. He ended the race on a 4 place after having fought with Casey Stoner on 3 place in the last rounds.
Before the 2011 season it was speculations that Rossi would go over to the Ducati Team, but the 15th August 2010 Rossi announced that he had signed a two-year contract with the Italian team. He will take the place of Casey Stoner, who goes over to the Repsol Honda.
