Film Overview

Plot Details
Maria Bello plays Lorraine, a recently separated single mother handling the consequences of her abusive marital relationship. She struggles with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), leaving her in continuous fear and with headaches. Her young child, Chad (Connor Hill), gets captured up in her mental illness. One night, while at a gasoline station, they become victims of a ruthless carjacking by a bank robber named Roy (Stephen Dorff).

Roy, having just managed a massive bank heist, takes Lorraine and Chad hostage, forcing them to drive him out of town to get away the authorities. He speaks casually and strikes a somewhat friendly temperament initially, showing contentment with the cash he took, but his sociopathic propensities begin to appear as the night endures.

Lorraine's Transformation
Throughout the journey, Lorraine withstands physical and psychological torment as she recognizes that Roy intends to kill them to get rid of witnesses. However, Lorraine finds her strength amidst the mayhem, utilizing her cunning and bravery to secure her child. The story deviates when Lorraine seizes a chance to get away however intentionally chooses to come back to rescue her kid entrusted Roy. Her motherly impulse and desperation assist her tremendously, unexpected Roy, who undervalues her.

Climax and Resolution
In the climactic sequence, Lorraine handles to persuade Roy to let her drive, just to purposefully crash the automobile. The collision injures Roy, and despite her trauma, Lorraine holds him at gunpoint, purchases time until the authorities show up, and successfully gets her son out of the vehicle unharmed.
