Intro
"Dolittle" is a 2020 American fantasy-comedy-adventure movie directed by Stephen Gaghan, based upon the character Medical professional Dolittle created by Hugh Lofting. The movie boasts an excellent star-studded cast, which includes Robert Downey Jr. in the titular role along with Antonio Banderas, Michael Sheen, and the voices of Emma Thompson, John Cena, Tom Holland, to name a few.

Plot
The film opens by narrating the life of Dr. John Dolittle (Downey Jr.), a well-known physician with a distinct present of interacting with animals. After his partner's tragic death in a sea voyage, Dolittle becomes a hermit, declining any human interaction and only living with his unique animals.

This quietude is disrupted when 2 kids intrude his sanctuary. The first, Tommy (Harry Collett), accidentally wounds a squirrel and seeks Dolittle's help. The 2nd is Lady Rose (Carmel Laniado), a royal emissary who informs Dolittle of Queen Victoria's fatal sickness and his urgent assistance is needed, as the Queen trusts only him.

Mid-Section
Hesitantly, Dolittle sails to Buckingham Palace and determines the Queen has actually been poisoned, and the only cure depends on a magical tree on an uncharted island. He embarks on a risky journey accompanied by his cherished animals - poly the parrot (Thompson), Chee-Chee the gorilla (Malek), Yoshi the polar bear (Cena), and Plimpton the ostrich (Nanjiani), among others, and Tommy who stashed on the ship.

Confrontations and Challanges
Throughout their journey, the group faces numerous obstacles and encounters with former competing Dr. Blair Müdfly (Sheen), who was also sent out by the wicked Lord Thomas Badgley, the mastermind behind the Queen's poisoning. Badgley wants to ascend to the throne if Queen Victoria passes away. To make matters worse, Müdfly is ruthless in trying to mess up the journey to ensure his sinister plan succeeds.

On the mystical island, the team discovers the tree, but Dolittle is filled with grief when he finds a skeletal remains, likely of his better half. He almost gives up, but with his animal buddies' encouragement, he presses on and successfully obtains the fruit from the wonderful tree to save Queen Victoria.

Conclusion
Returning in the nick of time, Dolittle remedies the Queen and exposes Lord Badgley's treachery. The Queen reinstates Dolittle's privileges and residential or commercial properties and even knights young Tommy for his bravery. Dolittle is thankful to resume his sanctuary doors, inviting Tommy as his apprentice, and resumes his remarkable life among his animal and human friends.

Reception
In spite of having Hollywood heavyweights on the lineup, Dolittle was consulted with mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike. Some found Robert Downey Jr.'s eccentric efficiency entertaining, while others slammed the movie's lack of direction, weak discussion, and underdeveloped characters. Regardless, the movie supplies light-hearted amusement, predominantly for more youthful audiences, with its zany animal banter and whimsical experience.
