Original Title: Les Fausses confidences

Dorante, an impoverished young man, is taken on as a secretary by Araminte, a rich widow with whom he is secretly in love. The valet Dubois does all he can to get Araminte to fall in love with Dorante. Following his staging of Marivaux’s comedy at the Odéon theater, Luc Bondy turns the whole theater building into a film studio, placing his actors in the foyer, under the stage, in the kitchens, using the most unusual and unexpected spots to invent a new dynamic between theater and film.

Film Overview
"False Confessions" is an engaging documentary released in 2017 directed by Katrine Philp. The film explores the perplexing concern of innocent people who, under duress during interrogations, confess to criminal activities they have not committed. The story is developed around the travails of defense attorney Jane Fisher-Byrialsen, who specializes in reversing wrongful convictions based on false confessions, providing a mind-blowing account of interrogation methods leading to coerced confessions and a problematic justice system.

Prolific Defense Attorney - Jane Fisher-Byrialsen
The movie centers on the identified and thoughtful defense lawyer Jane Fisher-Byrialsen as she relentlessly works to reveal the fact behind cases including false confessions. Fisher-Byrialsen takes on a number of cases across different US states, representing customers who have been wrongfully convicted of various criminal offenses. Her quest is to discover the deceptive interrogative techniques frequently used by police authorities that lead innocent individuals to admit regret.

Real-Life Cases
Among the real-life cases included are those of Korey Wise, one of the well-known Central Park Five, who was persuaded into admitting a rape he didn't devote; Johnny Hincapie, wrongfully founded guilty for a deadly stabbing based on a forced confession; and Lorenzo Montoya, a boy founded guilty for murder who confessed under pressure after an unrelenting and aggressive interrogation. These narratives compellingly illustrate the troubling occurrence of false confessions in the justice system, showing how manipulative interrogation techniques can break down people, leading them to admit to criminal activities they didn't commit.

Strategies of Coercion
The film explores how some private investigators apply psychologically manipulative methods in their quest to determine a suspect. "False Confessions" uncovers circumstances of extreme pressure, idea, and using frauds throughout interrogations. The worry, fatigue, or naivety of some suspects combine to develop an unstable situation where they may confess wrongly, believing it would end their ordeal. The emphasis is placed not on validating facts or looking for justice, but protecting confessions, no matter how untruthful they might be.

Reflection on Justice System
The "False Confessions" documentary speaks volumes about the precarious state of the United States justice system and how its inner operations frequently tip the balance in favor of convictions, despite innocence or regret. The movie provides enough grounds to question the dependability of confession-based convictions and worries the significance of a robust defense for suspects. Intellectual reflection about the mental elements of police is also raised, drawing attention to the monumental ramifications of these practices.

Conclusion
In a haunting and powerful way, "False Confessions" exposes the extensive and serious concern of coerced confessions leading to wrongful convictions. Through the stirring journey of lawyer Fisher-Byrialsen, viewers gain indispensable insights into the problematic locations of the current justice system. Were it not for defense attorneys like her, many innocent lives would remain captured in a distorted cycle of penalty, setting a tragic precedence for justice.
