Amelia is a gifted violinist who is in danger of quitting the Brissac Academy of Music. Julius arranges to have a scholarship given to her through his employee Tony so that Julius can escort Amelia to every musical event in the city. The trouble begins when he cannot meet her one night and Tony goes in his place. Tony believes that Julius and Amelia are a couple and then son Paul thinks that Tony and Amelia are a couple as he is sending her the money. The worst part is that Amelia might leave classical music for swing music with classmates Dusty, Joy and the band.

Jeffrey Lynn plays the function of Tony Baldwin, a genius saxophonist with a fondness for modern music. He is silently in love with Amelia, while she is brought in to her professor, Ridgeley (John Eldredge), a pompous and pompous guy.

Eddie Albert plays the function of Dusty Rhodes, an eccentric percussionist who compliments the light-hearted tone of the movie.

Due to a misconception, Malette thinks Amelia loves him when she offers him the present she planned for Fulton. Motivated by this, he attempts to win Amelia's heart, triggering a multi-layered confusion as he is much older and likewise because the lovely Tony holds a flame for Amelia. In a twist of events, Amelia comes to know of the real identity of her benefactor leading to a funny of errors as she tries to navigate these knotted relationships.

In an entertaining subplot, Dusty Rhodes develops a device that simplifies drum playing- which shows to be a catastrophe in a live efficiency. In another twist, the board decides to remove modern-day music from their curriculum, in reaction to which Tony forms a band with his fellow trainees.

Conclusion
In the climax, Malette recognizes the establishing love in between Tony and Amelia and steps back, acknowledging their love. Tony's band is a hit, and the academy, seeing their success, decides to reinstate modern music mentor.
