Introduction
Directed by Tom Provost, 'The Presence' is an American scary movie launched in 2010. The plot focuses on a woman and her disturbing encounters in an isolated cabin. Starring Mira Sorvino, Shane West, and Justin Kirk, the movie explores styles of love, fear, and the supernatural.

Plot Summary
Mira Sorvino plays the unnamed lady who retreats to an old cabin inherited from her granny, situated deep in the woods. She desires peace and solitude to focus on her writing work. Unbeknownst to her, a safe and transparent spirit (Shane West) cohabits the cabin and is inexplicably drawn to her, watching her quietly. The spirit is haunted by his own previous dramas and experiences in the cabin and is unable to proceed.

The harmony of the situation is disrupted when the female's manipulative sweetheart (Justin Kirk) abruptly gets to the cabin. This stimulates palpable tension within the woman, the spirit and the malevolent partner. A jealous war ensues between the partner and the spirit over the female's affections.

Character Exploration
The woman's character is presented as someone looking for haven from the outside world and her domineering partner. She is compassionate that enables her to feel the spirit's pain eventually. Her sweetheart, however, is portrayed as an aggressive, controlling individual who is more damaging to the woman than the spirit itself.

The spirit has a quiet yearning for the woman. In reality, the movie represents the spirit as a gentler existence compared to the boyfriend. This intrigue is an important driving force of the movie that keeps the viewers engaged.

Emphasizes of the Film
The movie includes very little discussions, therefore it relies heavily on visual storytelling and the actors' performances. The cinematography and the haunting rating play significant functions in developing an eerie, tense atmosphere throughout the motion picture. In spite of being categorized as a scary film, 'The Presence' leans more towards psychological thriller.

Conclusion
In the end, the bottled-up stress explode into a tragic climax, where the partner accidentally leads the woman to her death while attempting to exorcise the spirit out of jealousy. The ending is not completely cynical though, as the woman reunites with the spirit in death, leaving her physical and emotional tormentor behind.

In a nutshell, 'The Presence' is a distinct blend of horror and drama, showcasing a spectral love triangle and exploring the depths of human emotions and supernatural presence.
