After the Combiner Wars ended, Cybertron started to be rebuilt. However, an undead Starscream has been reincarnated as Trypticon, wreaking havoc around him. To combat this menace, Windblade gathers up a ragtag team of Transformers, including Optimus Prime and Megatron, to resurrect an ancient ally. And while some may be forever changed by the events, others may not emerge with their sparks intact.

Film Overview
"Transformers: Titans Return" is an American animated web series from 2017 and the 2nd installation of the Transformers' Prime Wars Trilogy, being successful "Transformers: Combiner Wars" and preceding "Transformers: Power of the Primes". It was established by Machinima, Inc. and Tatsunoko Production and premiered exclusively on Verizon's Go90 service in the U.S. The series combines iconic characters from Transformers history, including Optimus Prime, Megatron, Windblade, Perceptor, and Mistress of Flame.

Plot Summary
Paradoxically, following the last sharp-dressed battle including Optimus Prime, the Transformers universe depends on ruins. The city-speaker Windblade picks to reanimate an ancient ally in Metroplex to counter the effective combiners. On the other hand, Megatron manipulates the Mistress of Flame, the spiritual ruler of Cybertron, and persuades her to allow him to combiner his Energon, resulting in the development of Trypticon, a gigantic decepticon. His development interferes with Cybertron's peace as the enormous Trypticon created chaos.

Conflict and Resolution
Optimus Prime had left Cybertron, but his tradition remained influential, leading a group called 'Primes' to prepare a plan for restoring peace. They aim to contact Optimus Prime in an attempt to bring him back to salvage their house planet from utter damage. But communication between the Primes and Optimus is obstructed, and unknown enemies take advantage to sway the experience towards additional mayhem. Perceptor and Windblade are left to control the disastrous scenario, trying to keep Trypticon contained while determining Megatron's grand schemes.

In the end, Optimus Prime returns and fights against Trypticon. With the assistance of Autobots and his allies, Trypticon is beat, and Cybertron is saved. Nevertheless, the damage triggered has left Cybertron in ruins, setting the stage for the last part of the Prime Wars Trilogy, "Transformers: Power of the Primes".

Main Characters
Optimus Prime, Windblade, and Megatron are the primary characters in the film, with Optimus Prime taking a rear seats for most of the story. Windblade is illustrated as a strong and determined leader who takes charge in Prime's absence, while Megatron is the shrewd villain who wreaks havoc and damage. Other characters like Perceptor and Metroplex play important roles in the intense war versus Trypticon.

Reception
"Transformers: Titans Return" was hailed favorably for its interesting story, excellent animation, and excellent voice acting, although some fans argued it was a step down from its predecessor, Combiner Wars. The web series offered a satisfying extension and build-up to a larger story, preserving suspense and anticipation for the concluding part of the trilogy. The attention to character development, especially Windblade and Megatron, was also a highlight for many fans. The film did a fantastic task keeping the momentum of the trilogy alive and earned noteworthy appreciation from its audience.
