This quote speaks to the human condition and our battle to understand our own nature. We are all trying to find out just how much of our darker impulses we can explore without losing our sense of self. It is a hard balance to strike, as we are constantly drawn in different directions by our own desires and the expectations of society. We must beware to not let our darker impulses take control of, as it can cause a loss of our identity and a descent into something else. It is a hard journey, however one that is needed in order to understand ourselves and our location on the planet.
