In this quote, Friedrich Schleiermacher is making a comparison in between the relationship in between being and semblance or experience in nature, and the relationship in between good and enjoyment or sensation in principles. He is suggesting that the 2 relationships are analogous, and that they both involve an antithesis. In nature, being and form or feeling are revers, while in principles, good and pleasure or sensation are revers. Schleiermacher is suggesting that the 2 relationships are similar in that they both involve a tension between two opposing forces. This tension is necessary for the 2 sides to exist in consistency, and it is this tension that permits development and development. By understanding the relationship between being and form or experience in nature, and the relationship in between excellent and pleasure or feeling in principles, we can much better understand how to develop a balanced and harmonious society.
