The liberal left’s capacity for harm, as suggested by Moynihan, lies not just in the content of its ideas, but in the enforcement of adherence through social, professional, or educational means.

Moynihan’s observation serves as a warning: all groups, regardless of their stated ideals, are susceptible to rigid thinking and its corrosive effects. True progress requires ongoing self-reflection, intellectual humility, and a willingness to accommodate complexity, even, perhaps especially, within movements that see themselves as agents of positive change.
