About this Quote

Alfred North Whitehead was a British mathematician and philosopher who was highly vital of the idea of God as a cosmic autocrat. He thought that this concept of God was too restricting and did not reflect the real nature of God. Whitehead argued that God is not a cosmic totalitarian who controls and manipulates deep space, however rather a loving and thoughtful being who operates in partnership with mankind. He believed that God deals with us to cause the best possible outcomes, rather than simply enforcing his will on us. Whitehead argued that God is not a remote and aloof figure, however rather a caring and caring presence in our lives. He believed that God is a source of convenience and strength, and that we need to aim to develop a relationship with God that is based upon mutual regard and understanding. Whitehead's views on God as a loving and compassionate being have had an enduring impact on the method we think of God today.
