Barbra Joan Streisand (born in Brooklyn, New York City) is an American actor, film director, composer and singer. She won an Oscar in 1968 for Best Actress as "Fanny Brice" in the movie Funny Girl. She has also won an Oscar for best song for song Evergreen (Love Theme from A Star Is Born) from the film A Star is born in 1976. She has received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She has named the Streisand effect.
She was for some years married to actor Elliott Gould, who is the father of her only child, her son Jason. Both Streisand and Gould are of Jewish origin.
