David Satcher is a previous admiral of the united state Public Wellness Service Commissioned Corps, serving from 1998 to 2001 as 10th Assistant for Health, and at the same time as the 1998-2002 16th Specialist General of the USA. He was the initial African American to the post of Specialist General.
Satcher graduated from Morehouse College in 1963 at Atlanta. He after that examined medicine at Case Western Reserve University. From 1979 to 1982 Satcher acted as professor at the Morehouse School of Medicine. From 1982 to 1993 he was head of state of Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee.
From February 1998 to January 2001, Satcher, Surgeon General of the United States. He was adhered to in this office Joycelyn Elders, Audrey F.
