SummaryJanis Joplin (born as Janis Lyn Joplin in Port Arthur, Texas, U.S., died in Los Angeles, California, U.S.) was a famous Musician from USA, who lived between January 19, 1943 and October 4, 1970.BiographyJanis Lyn Joplin was an American rock artist.She was 1960's greatest singer, and had an incredibly amazing voice that was perfectly suited to rock and especially blues. But she also played with genres like country and jazz. Janis was an idol for many youngsters. She was the female hippie ideal. But she could not handle success, and therefore died at a young age. She was born 1943 in Port Arthur, Texas. Where she lived, there was a Conservative government, and therefore she was a very rebellious girl. She had not a very many friends and were generally poor in the state. What sustained her was blues music. She realized that she had an amazing voice, which was written brilliantly suited well to the blues, she began to practice how to sing. She started her career in San Francisco in California, where she performed in small pubs. After a short time in the "branch" Janis was introduced to the drug amphetamine. She was severely dependent, and then she was informed by some friends persuaded to move back home to mom and dad in Texas, to be weaned. She was drug free, and returned in 1966 back to San Francisco. There, she came in contact with the group "Big Brother & the position of company" just needed a singer. They loved Janis' voice and she was their "frontman". In 1967 they appeared on "Montery Pop Festival" which gave them a lot of positive publicity, especially Janis. It was the group's big breakthrough. But luck was not 100% for Janis. She suffered from complexes over his appearance. She was given because of the problems a new problem: she became addicted to alcohol, and also had time in heroin. She could not handle his success. In 1968 split Janis and Big Brother & the Holding Company. She recorded and performed with some other musicians. Among other things, she performed with the Kozmic Blues Band at Woodstock. Comparing Janis and Elvis Presley together since they both were the first whites who really broke through rock music. As Elvis was the first white male superstar Janis was the first white female superstar. Janis died of an overdose of heroin, 4 October 1970, only a few weeks after Jimi Hendrix's death.
