"Everything has a natural explanation. The moon is not a god, but a great rock, and the sun a hot rock"
- Anaxagoras
About this Quote
Anaxagoras was a pre-Socratic thinker that believed that everything in the universe had a natural description. He believed that the moon was not a god, however a great rock, and also the sun was a hot rock. This quote is a reflection of his idea that deep space was made up of natural environments and that there was no requirement to associate mythological pressures to discuss the phenomena of the world. He thought that deep space was made up of an unlimited variety of small particles, which he called "seeds". He said that these bits were the foundation of deep space which they might be combined in different ways to produce the various things and sensations that we observe. Anaxagoras' views were cutting edge for his time, as they challenged the conventional religious and also superstitious beliefs of the time. His views were at some point adopted by the scientific area and helped to shape the modern-day clinical worldview.
