Brooks made his debut as an actor in silent film The Street of Forgotten and has since played in 17 other silent films before movies with sound took over. Brooks retired actress after completing the last film Overland Stage Raiders from 1938. She tried later as a writer but none of her books were published.She was known as a notorious spendthrift for most of his life, and she signed up for bankruptcy. Despite her two marriages, she was never a child. Among her many lovers was a young William S. Paley, founder of TV channel CBS Televison. She was a Ziegfeld Follies dancer in when she met Charlie Chaplin for the first time. He had traveled to New York to promote a new movie and they had a romance together. In the summer of 1926 Brooks married with Eddie Sutherland, director of a film she was in.. She divorced Sutherland in June 1928. In 1933 she married millionaire Deering Davis of Chicago, but suddenly she left him in March 1934 after only five months of marriage, the couple officially divorced in 1938. The 8 august 1985, Louise Brooks was found dead of a heart attack after suffering from arthritis and emphysema for many years. She was buried in Rochester, New York.
