Stephen Covey was an American educator, author, and business consultant who is best known for his influential book "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People". He was born on October 24, 1932, in Salt Lake City, Utah, and was the oldest of nine children.

Covey received his bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Utah, his master's degree in business administration from Harvard University, and his doctorate in religious education from Brigham Young University. He began his career as a professor of organizational behavior at Brigham Young University and later served as the director of the university's Center for Entrepreneurship.

In the 1980s, Covey founded his own consulting firm, Covey Leadership Center, which focused on helping organizations and individuals achieve greater effectiveness and success. He also became a popular keynote speaker, delivering talks on leadership, time management, and personal development to audiences around the world.

Covey's book "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People", published in 1989, became a bestseller and has since sold more than 25 million copies worldwide. The book outlines seven principles for achieving personal and professional success, including taking responsibility for one's own life, beginning with the end in mind, and seeking first to understand, then to be understood.
