We can accept and even love someone who is a rogue, or somebody who is understood for their naughty behavior, as long as they are sincere about it. Nevertheless, what is more offensive than an incorrect saint, or someone who pretends to be ideal and holy, is the truth that they are not being sincere about their true nature. This quote talks to the concept that it is better to be sincere about our flaws and errors than to pretend to be something we are not. It is better to be a sincere rogue than an incorrect saint.
