He then became a researcher at MIT, where he worked closely with Jay Forrester, who developed the system dynamics and the principle of magnetic storage for computers. From 1972 he taught at Dartmouth College for 29 years. Dr. Meadows was working at MIT in 1972 as part of the team that produced the overall computational model World3 for the Club of Rome and provided a basis for the book "Limits to Growth." The book reported a study of long-term global trends in the areas of population, economy and environment. That letter was heightened around the world, and began a debate about the limits of our planet's capacity for continued economic expansion suportar the human being, a debate that continues today. In 1981, Dr. Meadows founded the INRIC ("International Network of Resource Information Centers" - International Network of Resource Information Centers), a comprehensive and collaborative mechanisms for sharing information among hundreds of academics, researchers and activists sustainable development movement (an international effort to reverse trends of damage to the environment, economy and social systems). Donella also founded the Sustainability Institute, which combines research in global systems with practical demonstrations of sustainable living, including the development of "Ecovillages" and organic farms. Dr. Meadows was awarded the "Walter C. Paine Sciencie Education Award "in 1990 and awarded" John H. Chafee Excellence in Environmental Affair Award "posthumously in 2001. Donella wrote a weekly column called the global citizen ("The Global Citizen"), nominated for the Pulitzer in 1991, where he was global events from the systemic point of view. His work is widely recognized as an important influence in other academic studies, government initiatives and international treaties.
