Growing up, William had access to the best education and mentors in the world. He attended Wetherby School in London and later went on to study at Ludgrove School in Berkshire. In 1995, he enrolled in Eton College in Windsor, where he pursued a degree in geography.
William's life changed dramatically in 1997 when his mother,
Princess Diana, died in a car crash in Paris. This event had a profound impact on him, and he struggled with grief and the public attention that came with it.
In 2000, William took a gap year and traveled to Chile, Africa, and the UK. He then attended the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, where he met
Kate Middleton, whom he dated for several years before getting engaged in November 2010.
After graduating with a degree in geography, William joined the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in 2006, where he trained to become an officer in the British Army. He graduated as a Second Lieutenant in 2006 and later served in the Blues and Royals regiment of the Household Cavalry, responsible for guarding the monarch.
In 2011, he became a helicopter pilot and served in the Royal Air Force Search and Rescue Force. He left the military in 2013 to focus on royal duties.
Throughout his life, William has been actively involved in various charitable causes, including mental health, veterans support, and conservation. He has also been vocal about environmental issues and climate change and has championed initiatives to promote sustainability.
In 2018, William became the patron of the homeless charity The Passage, a role previously held by his mother,
Princess Diana.
In 2020, he stepped up to help support the UK during the COVID-19 pandemic, launching the National Emergencies Trust appeal, which raised millions of pounds to help communities affected by the pandemic.
William is married to Catherine Middleton, now known as Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, since April 29, 2011. The couple has three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
As the second in line to the British throne after his father,
