This quote by Brooks Atkinson speaks to the significance of having an open mind and being willing to consider different perspectives. He recommends that having a set viewpoint, or a narrow viewpoint, can be deadly because life is constantly changing and evolving. By having a restricted perspective, we are not able to see the larger photo and the potential opportunities that come with it. Instead, we become stuck in our own narrow view of the world and unable to move forward. Atkinson motivates us to be open up to different perspectives and to accept the development and motion that life uses. By doing so, we can avoid the "deadly illusion" of a narrow viewpoint and rather, open ourselves as much as the possibilities that life has to provide.
